The Girdwood Community Gardens in partnership with the Girdwood Chapel has been operating for the past five years with plots available to rent for Girdwood residents, with one plot reserved for the Food Pantry. The construction of a greenhouse at the gardens will help to extend Girdwood’s short growing season, allowing gardeners to start plants earlier in the spring, keep seedlings until plots are ready for planting, and provide the opportunity to grow produce such as tomatoes that would not produce if grown outdoors. This project also included annual maintenance and drainage improvements to the gardens.
