Located in the Arlberg Trailhead parking lot, the Girdwood Trails Committee created and installed this sign that tells a brief history of Sewell “Stumpy” Faulkner and describes the ski trail he built through the meadows of the Girdwood Valley. A sketch of the trail, as drawn by Stumpy, provided a conceptual map of the route. There are photos of various locations on the map, with explanations about how those locations came to be named.
